Inspector General’s July Newsletter

My Dear Brothers

The months of May & June have been remarkable for our District of Dyfed in many different ways and this omnibus edition of our Newsletter covers the last two months of our 2021-22 Masonic year.

Congratulations

I am delighted to announce that the following Dyfed Ill Bros were elected to the following higher degrees by Supreme Council on Thursday 14th. July: –

  • To Sublime Prince of the Royal Secret – 320
    • Ill Bro Mike Swann        – District Recorder
  • To Grand Inspector Inquisitor Commander – 310
    • Ill Bro Neil Devonald      – St Brides Chapter
    • Ill Bro Bob McKnight      – Landsker Chapter
    • Ill Bro John Watson       – Tudor Rose Chapter

I am sure that the whole District will join with me in congratulating them all on their well-earned and richly deserved preferment.

Details and dates of their ceremonies at the Grand East will be announced at a later date.

Pelican Peloton – a considerable achievement

A full report of the above event was posted shortly after the event on our Dyfed District web-site https//dyfedrrosecroix.com   confirming the very great success of this unique occasion which not only celebrated the ancient Sarn Helen route running the whole length of Wales but also the unity and closeness of the three Welsh Rose Croix Districts through which  the route passed.

I was particularly moved by the enthusiasm, readiness and generosity of all the members of our Order together with our neighboring Districts in making this such a resounding success as the photos attached clearly show.

The total raised for the Wales Air Ambulance to date is approaching an incredible £5000 and the members of the Sarn Helen Chapter who worked so hard in organising the Peloton are to be heartily congratulated on this memorable achievement.

A full set off pictures of the finish of the event can be seen on the Pelican Peloton page on this website.

Donations are still most welcome and for further details please contact the Sarn Helen treasurer, event organiser and participant Ill Bro Nick Sawyer who will be pleased to assist:  nicksawyer69@gmail.com

The Grand East

Higher Degree Meetings at 10 Duke St are always a well-deserved and memorable occasion for candidates and these have been much missed over the past two years of the pandemic.

So it was a particular pleasure on May 17th to accompany E&PP Bro Tim McDermott of the Landsker Chapter on his promotion to Kt. Kadosh 300.

Ill Bro Tim and Ill Bro Bob McKnight are pictured along with V. Ill Bro John Everett having enjoyed celebrating the occasion at the Festive Board.

With six Dyfed District candidates receiving their higher degrees accompanied by a further six guests, the June 7th Higher Degrees meeting at the Grand East was such a busy occasion that it proved impossible to collect all together for a photograph.

It was fortuitous therefore that the occasion of the Sarn Helen Enthronement on 21st of June provided an ideal photo opportunity when four of those June HDM candidates visited the Aberaeron Chapter.

They are shown here together with our District Recorder and Inspector General.

From the left Ill ∴ Bro. David Wynford Parry 30° (Sarn Helen Chapter No.926),  Ill ∴ Bro. Sydney George Smith 32° (Ceredigion Chapter No.453), Ill ∴ Bro. Mike Swann 31° District Recorder,  Very ∴  Ill ∴ Bro. John Everett 33° Inspector General,  Ill ∴ Bro. John Glyn Evans JP 32° (Sarn Helen Chapter No.926),  Ill ∴ Bro. Anthony Charles Trumper 30° (Maridunum Chapter No.244).

Sincere apologies for not yet being able to post photo’s of Ill Bro Eifion Evans & Ill Bro David Griffiths of the Landsker and Ceredigion Chapters on the day of their preferments but lets hope that is corrected when we resume our meetings in September.

Supreme Council Appointments

I am sure that every member of our Dyfed District will wish to join me in congratulating V Ill Bro Gareth Jones OBE on his appointment as a member of Supreme Council as Grand Captain General on Thursday 14th. July.

V Ill Bro Gareth is, of course, well known in W Wales both as Past PGM of S Wales and Third Grand Principal, Royal Arch and his appointment to Supreme Council marks his further progress in his masonic career and we wish him every success and good health to enjoy his new office.

Well, the Summer weather is truly upon us once again and I trust that you and your families take full advantage of the balmy weather! I very much look forward to your company in September when we resume our meetings.

Sincerely and Fraternally

JohnEverett  – 330 – Inspector General for the District of Dyfed
